A fragile voice from Scandinavia which exerts its charm well beyond the frontiers of jazz. Her voice might evoke a woman-child, but this Swedish artist already has ten albums under her belt and has won three Grammy Awards. Discreet and delicate, she always sings jazz, bossa nova and pop with consummate elegance.
Born in Sweden, Lisa Ekdahl discovered music at a very young age. She cut her teeth playing with jazz bands. In 1994, she released her first, eponymous album, which was a huge hit, selling over 500,000 copies. Backed up by the excellent trio created by Peter Nordhal, this diaphanous vocalist has bewitched jazz fans with her sheer grace. She exported her skills abroad with the records When did you leave heaven (1997) and Back to Earth , which confirmed and launched Lisa on the international stage. Her music, imbued with bossa nova, is gentle and jazzy.
This year, Lisa Ekdhal has returned in high style with a brand new album, Live at The Olympia. It is her eleventh album, and her first live album! An excellent opportunity to rediscover the repertoire of this Swedish artist and her seductive universe and characteristic grooves.
